Thank you to PTSA for sponsoring Figureheads. These young men came to CVMS Tuesday morning delivering a message of diversity, self-acceptance, anti-bullying and so much more. Our students actually created the beat, drums, and piano background for the song the musicians rapped on the fly! We ended the party with a dance off! Check out these super amazing pictures! Thank you so much for sharing your student with us over the 2018-2019 school year. Each student brings blessings in their own way. We are honored to have you share your child with us each day. This will be the last update you receive for the year. If a student is not here on the last day of school, the yearbook can be picked up from CVMS on June 3 from 8 am-2 pm, June 4-28 at CIS from 7:30 am-2 pm, or after August 1 at CVMS from 8 am-2 pm. Dr. Vandeven, Commissioner Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), recommends for students to stay tuned-in to education over the summer. One way to do so is for students to attend summer school. Another way is through the DESE website using the Summer Math Challenge. I encourage each student to participate. Drawings will be held daily at lunch for prizes! We will also have a celebration for students who show positive attitude and effort during testing on Tuesday May 28th. We will have activities outside including kickball, football, volleyball, and hanging out with friends. Each grade level will spend part of their day outside! Additionally, in the Fall, when we return to school, we will have a celebration for students who have worked hard in the classroom all year on their academics and are able to score Proficient or Advanced in each subject area. Once scores are received, students and parents will be notified of student performance and the celebration. 8th Grade Recognition night will be on May 30th at 6:30 pm in the CHS gym. This celebration was for last year's performance. 7th, 8th, and 9th grade students had their celebration for last year's scores in the fall. CVMS students and staff participated in an intruder drill this morning. All participants responded appropriately.
Math placement letters were sent home today to all 6th grade students and current 7th grade Pre-Algebra student. If you have questions, please contact your child’s math teacher at 816.882.1041. On April 23, any 6th grade student who earned proficient or advanced on LAST year’s MAP test will be at the awards ceremony. This will take place at Goodrich. The kids had so much fun that we added extra events!!! Check out the super fun pictures below!!! The Spring Fling is FRIDAY!!!! Doors open at 5 pm. Please make arrangements for students to be picked up at 7 pm. We can’t wait to see CVMS students having fun with the DJ, video games, interactive games, photo booths, etc. Entry cost is $5. Drinks and snacks are sold separately. School dress code should be followed. Sorry, no outside food or drinks are permitted. Lost and found items will be donated on Friday. Please see the pictures below regarding items that have been lost and not yet found for over a week. Monday is 4th Quarter Midterm. If you have not done so already, please contact the front office for PowerSchool login. This will allow you to check grades at your convenience and even sign up for daily (or weekly) email updates. The school nurse will be conducting scoliosis screenings for 6th grade girls and 8th grade boys on April 17 and 18. Information letters have been sent home with students regarding the screening. Please return the signed notification letter only if you DO NOT want your child to participate in the screening. You may contact the nurse at 816-882-1072 if you have any questions regarding the screening. School is in session on Monday, April 22.
